DORPER AND WHITE DORPER EXCEL AT WAMMCO CARCASS COMPETITION.
total of 83 producers put forward 96 entries, totalling 18,361 lambs for evaluation at the WAMMCO Carcase Competition this year. The aim is for 100 entries next year which will make this competition the largest carcass competition in the world
The Levett lambs were a draft that averaged 24.2kgs and had a fat score 3 but compensated for their higher than ideal fat coverage with an outstanding 15.2% loin lean meat yield. The line also had a 55.4% carcase yield and scored 2652.9 points. The winning pen scored only 12 points higher.
The breed had five out of the top six, six out the top 10 highest and eight out of the top 18 with the highest loin lean meat yields.
